In a partnership between PHnw and the EcoBuilding Guild we are presenting the first in a series of three workshops that focus on the non-energy related benefits of building to the high-performance standards. The first of these presentations is focusing on the health benefits. These presentations are directed at the everyday home owner and will show detailed ways building a better home has the potential to create healthier spaces.

The Case Study for the second presentation will be a project that has been designed Scott Kosmecki of Hinge Build Group, LLC.  Scott will be leading this presentation and we will also hear from some of the people that are doing the physical work on this case study house as well as show images and video from the job site.

The presentations will be at community centers near the case studies sites. There will be two more presentations this year, each one focusing on another positive, non-energy related aspect of Passive House and high-performance building. Then in October, we will host a Tour of the three case study homes: showcasing this amazing work and giving people a chance to experience them first hand. All four events should be great fun and very informative.

Presenters include:
Scott Kosmecki, PHnw Board member & Founder of Hinge Build Group
Ken Klos, Architect will present some of his work on Aging-in Place

+ Contributions from others involved with the physical construction of the home.

After the three focused presentations are given throughout the year, a Home Tour will be held at the three Case Study project sites so the work done can be shown off in a hands on way. The contractors and the subs who did the actual work will have the opportunity to talk in a “Green Slam” fashion about the specific work they did on these homes. Ten slides in 10 minutes is typical so as to keep the information short, and focused. All trades will have an opportunity to talk and this is a great opportunity for them to network in an atmosphere where attendants are likely potential clients.
